The Embedded and Intelligent Systems Laboratory (EIS Group) from the University of Essex will give this session introducing some of their recent work on diagnostic technology for Industry 4.0, such as the latest Xilinx Netjury device, a powerful test tool for real-time industrial communication protocols with programmable FPGA logic. Through a series of practical demonstrations, attendees will learn how to simulate, synthesize, and implement high-speed industrial communication (Ethernet, Profinet) using FPGAs and their potential use in Industry 4.0 communication and software-driven FPGA development.

“Praktisch en to the point”. Als je bij een klassieke lezing wat op je honger blijft zitten, dan gaan we met de design workshops een stap verder. In de workshops wordt gestart met een introductie rond de materie maar wordt in het tweede deel telkens het ontwerp van begin tot einde uitgelegd. In deze workshop richten we ons op twee onderwerpen: EMC filter ontwerp en ontwerp van een power quality meter.

Power quality en energiemetingen worden heden ten dage belangrijker. Als voorbereiding op het ontwerp van een PQ meter wordt een inleiding gegeven wat PQ inhoudt waarna een aantal reëel praktische cases naar voor worden gebracht om het belang van energiemetingen en power quality meting te duiden.

INCASE - A sharp overview of Industry 4.0 (*)

Do you want a more profound understanding of the impact of Industry 4.0 on your business? Then you should certainly explore the opportunities at Flanders Expo on the 14th of November.

A selection of the projects results in 3 parallel tracks (Robotics, Smart homes and Energy) will be presented by the participating academic institutions. After the presentations their will be a continuous demonstation of the INCASE technology projects.

Keynote speaker Filip Van den Abeele, head of science of the Flemish public radio and television and founder of Subseawill will share his vision on the revolution and how to deal with it.

Hiermee nodigen we u uit voor het evenement Smart Gate Zeeland. Een middag met inspirerende en informatieve bijdragen over de digitale transformatie in diverse sectoren. Tijdens deze middag kunt u zelf ook oplossingen zien: voor iedere sector worden twee projecten of producten gepresenteerd.

Waarom?

In alle sectoren leeft het besef dat de digitale transformatie de komende jaren een grote impact zal hebben. Digitalisering biedt kansen: een krappe arbeidsmarkt is voor sommigen aanleiding om in robotisering te investeren. Anderen willen hun productieprocessen verduurzamen en zetten digitalisering in om energie en grondstoffen te besparen.

Digitalisering roept echter ook vragen op: wat zijn de trends op dit gebied? Hoe analyseer ik mijn processen? Wat betekent het voor mijn medewerkers? Waar vind ik goede scholing? Zijn er in de buurt kennis- en implementatiepartnes die mij kunnen helpen? Hoe gaan anderen, binnen en buiten mijn sector, hier eigenlijk mee om? Er is behoefte aan kennis en inspiratie. Ook geven bedrijven aan rond dit onderwerp betere verbindingen te willen hebben met andere bedrijven/sectoren en kennisinstellingen

Wanneer en voor wie?

Op donderdagmiddag 13 juni 2019 organiseren Impuls Zeeland en HZ University of Applied Sciences het evenement Smart Gate Zeeland. Het doel is om de vertegenwoordigers van verschillende sectoren en ondernemers bij elkaar te brengen, hen te informeren en inspireren om een actieve rol te pakken in deze transitie. U bent ook van harte welkom wanneer u op een andere wijze betrokken bent op dit onderwerp: vanuit beleid, overheid of kennisinstelling.

After our successful conference day in 2018, with more than 130 participants, the

INCASE project would like to invite you on the 28th of May, 2019 to our next conference day on

“Networked Control & Automation 4.0”.

Just like last year, the conference day features a market place with 10+ stands of leading automation suppliers and 2 parallel tracks of lectures on state of the art technologies.

We totally renewed half of the program of last year, and updated a number of topics that are logically re-programmed. In this way, the conference day is interesting for both returning visitors (yes, you missed half of the lectures of last year!) and for people who sign up for the first time.

The first track is on “industrial data communication”, focusing on PROFINET industrial networks. Some highlights:

·        A detailed lecture on technologies emerging in industry the next years (TSN – Time Sensitive Networking – and 5 G) by Karsten Schneider (chairman of PI International)

·        A double lecture on “sporadic and not predictable network issues” with interesting use cases from German automobile manufacturers (Rene Heidl, Indu-Sol Germany)

·        Detailed updates on diagnostic tools for troubleshooting and preventive maintenance, redundancy, IO-Link technology, etc.

The second track is on “integrated design”, focusing on industrial applications of code generation from MATLAB-Simulink, co-simulation integrating CAD and system dynamics using Siemens NX, virtual commissioning, and digital twin technology. Technology is changing quickly in this track!

A slot of 3 lectures focuses on predictive analytics and anomaly detection:
a detection method based on the current signature of electrical rotating machines (Bram Corne, Orbits), an overview of methods for detecting anomalies and trends (Jan Verhasselt, Yazzoom), and overall implementation in edge or cloud computing.

De workshop EMC & HFPQ geeft aan de hand van een industriële opstelling inzicht in de elektromagnetische aspecten van deze installatie. Organized together with PROFIBUS & PROFINET International (PI UK), these free-to-attend seminars will address the key practical issues arising from the use of digital communications technologies in automated manufacturing and process industry applications, with particular attention to the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 4.0.

Opening with a keynote address given by PI Chairman Karsten Schneider introducing PI’s current and developing technologies for Industry 4.0, the event will cover key application areas such as mechanical handling and logistics, robotics, automotive engineering, electrical and electronics assembly, control systems and energy management, utilities, pharmaceutical, packaging and printing. ,

Supported by demonstrations of actual tools used in configuration and maintenance, these  events focus very much on the practical aspects of using PROFINET and IO-Link, from system design and safety considerations through to fault-finding and maintenance. The events will therefore be of great value to Designers, Production/System Engineers, Instrument Technicians/Engineers and C&I Engineers involved in the design, operation and maintenance of modern automated factories and process plant.

Smart technologies need both power and communication. Is combining power and data in one cable a feasible and robust solution for your application? In this half day of lectures, three technologies are discussed: Power-over-Ethernet (POE), Power Line Communication (PLC) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The basic ideas, needed technology and standardisation are explained.

The visual components and basic properties of the 100BASE-TX physical layer for industrial use of wired ethernet, the “invisible” signal coding (4B/5B, scrambling, MLT3) and actual voltage signals on the copper wires, and a number of industrially relevant signal and packet measurement methods are explained. Actual measurements in PROFINET industrial networks illustrate the discussed signal properties and visualize the bits, bytes and messages.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) enables the delivery of power to IP network devices via existing Ethernet cables. The new 802.3bt standard increases the amount of power available for devices to 90W, enabling a myriad of new applications.

The PLC field of telecommunication engineering is progressing towards maturity. This presentation proposes a review of fundamentals technologies and standards that enable its implementation. A survey of present and future applications is also presented.

PLC is both source and victim of electromagnetic interference. This lecture looks into the world EMC-standardisation related to both narrowband- and broadband-PLC.

Several topics will be discussed in this lecture. QI standard (Wireless charging standard), RFID and EnOcean (combining RF and energy harvesting). Finally, Bluetooth Low Energy is introduced and compared to EnOcean .
